Rosemary wowed us with her amazing collection of wardrobe dolls. “To me”, she said, “it’s all about the clothes!” And what clothes her dolls have. From Barbie to French Fashion Dolls, they are all quite spoiled. Rosemary also challenged us to put together our own wardrobe doll for show & tell at the May meeting this year. We have plenty of inspiration!

We had a fabulous time sharing dolls and books at our October 12th meeting. Many members brought examples of dolls that were based on literary characters, dolls that inspired books or books with doll protagonists. DianeR (who happens to be a librarian) walked us through the selections with great enthusiasm! Click on the thumbnail pictures below to see an album with close-ups of the displays.

We had lot’s to share in September. We shared where our dolls went this summer, what new dolls came our way and what we’ve been making for our dolls. As you can see from the pictures, a lot of doll fun has been going on! We also had our Jane’s (and other dolls) dressed to show where they worked, in honor of Labor Day.
We had a wonderful time visiting and playing at Rosemary’s house in Leominster on August 10th! Twelve YDDers made it to the party, along with four guests (Corinne, Carol, Hope and Becca). Rosemary spoiled us with a delicious, light supper and the desserts everyone brought were plentiful and decadent. A few people even took a dip in the pool that’s part of Rosemary’s backyard oasis! Thanks again for hosting us, Rosemary.

Carolyn called a meeting last Thursday, July 29th, to help plan the remaining details of the upcoming Jane Fundraiser. Five of us (DianeR, Evelyn, Flo, Maria and Virginia) met with Carolyn at her house for an extremely fun time documenting the contents of the set as it is now, making notes about what we need to add and brainstorming about how to carry off the fundraiser. We have a proposal that we’ll present at the September meeting for a vote (we’re going to suggest a raffle rather than an eBay auction).
DianeR brought her camera and suggested that we should have a photo gallery just for the purpose of documenting what we have now since pictures are better than a list. (These pictures are not the final ones we’ll use when we advertise the fundraiser.) If you have any items you’d like to add to the fundraiser, please get them to Carolyn by the September meeting so that DianeR can take the official pictures.

A great time was had by all at Virginia’s clubhouse in West Acton for the July “playdate” meeting. We were having too much fun eating (and eating, and eating…), chatting and shopping and apparently nobody took any pictures. It was great to have Carol J as a guest and we hope to see lots more of her!
These summer social meetings are so casual and fun! And Virginia’s clubhouse is so cozy and inviting. The theme was “sprucing up your dolls” and I (Maria) managed to get a new wig and dress on a “fixer-upper” American Girl Kirsten who has been waiting for months. I really wish I had gotten some pictures of Flo freckling and customizing the face painting of several members’ dolls, including my daughter Corinne’s “Little Corinne” who now looks even more like her.
We had a great time at Pickety Place! Thanks again to Rosemary for organizing this field trip. The food was wonderful, there were beautiful things to look at and, as usual, the company was great!

What a wonderful time we all had at Kathy’s Playhouse in Maynard for our June Potluck dinner. Lot’s of good food, good friends, great Little Red Riding Hood dolls, Show and Tell Dolls and lot’s of Silent Auction items. After we ate, we had time to bid on the items that were on tables and chairs, backs of couches and anywhere we could put them and our auction sheet.

We met at Sussi’s house in Templeton on a gorgeous, late May day for some play time. We had chocolate cake for lunch (with some fruit compote/salad to make it “healthy”) and played! Sussi, Flo, Kathy, Maria, DianeR and Fran made it this month. This pictures include a few sewing projects in process, Flo’s new BJD in an awesome new outfit, Maria’s “Phoenix Song” Kish being transformed from a girl to a boy, Kathy’s porcelain doll whose wig needed help, the doll residents of Sussi’s living room and more.

December, 2010 ~ Holiday Party
Evelyn is happy!
We had a wonderful time at the Yangze River restaurant in Littleton for our 2010 Holiday Party! A huge thank you to Rosemary for arranging the party. We had wonderful Chinese food, welcomed Carol, our newest YDD member, had a Yankee Swap, picked the winner of the Jane Trunk Raffle (congratulations, Evelyn!) and collected toys and dolls for our children’s charity.
